Maths

The children have at least 1 daily mathematics lesson. We aim to provide very practical activities to help children develop strong foundations in their mathematical learning. We provide many opportunities to develop mathematical language and use mathematical knowledge in real situations. The numeracy sessions are interactive with the children given opportunities to explain their answers.

The children cover topics such as calculations, money, shape, space, measure and problem solving. Teachers in KS1 follow planning from the White Rose Maths Hub, supported by documentation from NCETM.

In addition to classroom teaching, we also teach maths in small 20 minute group sessions in which children have the opportunity to work on their targets and develop their key foundation in mathematical learning.
