Specialist Resourced Provision 'The Nest'

At Ellenborough Academy, our specialist resource provision is fondly known as ‘The Nest’.

We provide care and learning for children whose primary area of need on their EHCP is Speech, Language, Communication (SLCN) and/or Autism.

‘The Nest’ is led by our SENCO Alex Harker and specialist support staff.

It is a nurturing environment where we aim to celebrate every child; to support them to feel safe, to build relationships and become happy, confident learners.

Each child also has the opportunity to access mainstream learning to allow them to have the confidence to join in and learn with their peers, and to access other areas of the curriculum and to enrich their provision.

Staff work responsively to meet each child's needs and staffing is used strategically, so that pupils are given support when needed but are also encouraged to develop independence.

We carefully plan learning opportunities that will allow the children to gain knowledge of the world around them but that will also let them to develop independence, allow for social interaction and improve their speech, language and communication skills.

We believe that each child has a great deal to offer and so we plan from each child’s interests, their needs and their achievements.
